KB Sheldon Mustangs
My name is Kevin Brambrink, my wife Bess and our children Breann, Kaelan and Teagan all fell in love with the Sheldon Mustangs, when in 2007 I replied to an ad that Kimberley had on the internet selling some of her Sheldon Mustangs that she brought home from Nevada. We couldn't believe how quiet and mellow these mustangs were. We walked into the herd, and they all came to say hi and before we knew it they had totally surrounded us, wanting attention and looking to see if we had a treat for them. We started off with a 6 year old mare named Majestic. Kimberley had taught her to lightly paw on the ground to ask for a treat, she could even get her to switch feet and nod her head when she asked her a question. Needless to say, we instantly fell in love with her. She had been bred while on the range, and she had a little filly in the spring of 2007. Kimberley named her Breezy. Breezy's personality was quite comical to say the least. We ended up purchasing her as well. In no time at all we fell in love with the breed and ended up purchasing a total of 6 mares and 1 colt.
Kimberley Carlstrom of New York Mills, Minnesota, who is the founder / owner of the registry has given us a great opportunity to carry on her dreams of trying to keep this breed of mustangs alive. In 2006, she had the opportunity to take home 20 head of these wonderful mustangs. She retrieved 10 mares and 10 foals, one being a orphan, from the SNWR after the horrific roundup of 2006. Out of the 10 mares, 3 were bred and gave her 3 wonderful new little lives that possibly would not have been if she hadn't of brought these horses to her home in Minnesota. With her help, we have started a small breeding facility and will continue to breed a few of these wonderful mustangs in hopes of expanding the exposure to this wonderful line of horses.
The Sheldon Mustangs are known for their good minds and gentle natures, which in so many minds mustangs are only known as man killers and wild beasts that would rather kill you than give you the opportunity to be loved. In our small town of Wolf Lake, MN, that was to be proven true. Like so many others, our community having never encountered wild horses and only going by the old wives tales brought wide spread concern amongst the people. Now, having seen the mustangs and having them in their community they are loved by all. We always have visitors popping in for a visit to see these wonderful horses. If you would like to see our mustangs, please don't hesitate to get ahold of us and make an appointment to come and visit. We ALWAYS love showing off our herd.
